Me and My Dad - Restoration

This was an interesting, but tedious restoration!
I used the following tools: Stamp, Patch, Smudge - and I added Color Layers for each color, inverted the masks to black, and then used the Brush tool and colored each section.

The goal was to keep the picture still have the original look (1973), but added subtle colors.
The resolution upgrade and the line across the picture was the hardest part.

Photo Retouch - Me and My Dad

I found this old photo of me and my dad when I was 4 years old. I thought it would be great to honor my father who passed away 9 years ago by restoring and colorizing the photo.  Using Patch, Stamp, Dodge and Burn tools along with creating the necessary mask layers, I'm hoping to accomplish this goal.

The Hate U Give - Book Cover

The Hate U Give, by Angie Thomas

Some of the style was influenced by Gestalt. Hooded figure was toned down to just show a shadow of the appearance underneath the summary. The main character, Starr Carver, was taken from one of the movie's photo of the lead character. Using the Torn Edges effect from Sketches in the Filter Gallery, I was able to blend both of the background colors to fill her features to create the "stamp" look I was hoping for. The colors of the letters were chosen to enhance the word "THUG" as well as using the Drop Shadow for the text layers. I've added the author's photo as well as created the actual ISBN bar code to complete the look.

The Hate U Give - Sketch

My sketch is based on the novel by Angie Thomas titled "The Hate U Give". I am planning on focusing on key colors  - Black - Red - White - Green - to have the book cover stand out. The original piece is of a young girl with a picket sign. My rendition will look a bit darker, to capture the intensity of the story line.

The book cover will have a red and black background. I want to give it a little of a Gestalt feel by having some of the items become either partially transparent or even a "stamp" look to it. The letters will spell out the word THUG which is symbolic to the story line and will have a silhouette of a gun in the picture. Hope you will enjoy the results.
